With Maximilian Mittelstädt in the starting XI, Germany took on Greece in their final warm-up match on Friday night ahead of the EURO. Julian Nagelsmann’s team found themselves behind at the break but turned things around in the second half to record a 2-1 win, courtesy of goals from Kai Havertz (55’) and Pascal Groß (89’).
Mittelstädt gave way to David Raum at half-time, with the other three VfB squad-members – Deniz Undav, Chris Führich and Waldemar Anton – unused substitutes this time around. There were also two players among the opposition with Cannstatt connections, namely goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos (who played for VfB between 2002 – 2016) and central defender Konstantinos Mavropanos (2020 – 2023).
