There were no goals in Germany’s friendly against Ukraine in Nuremberg on Monday evening, but there was plenty to celebrate for VfB’s four outfield players in Julian Nagelsmann’s squad as Waldemar Anton, Maximilian Mittelstädt, Chris Führich and Deniz Undav all made an appearance. The only Stuttgart player not to feature was goalkeeper Alexander Nübel.
Anton was making his full debut on just his second international appearance, while Mittelstädt – who won his third cap in Nuremberg – was also named in the starting XI. Both players played the full 90 minutes and delivered assured performances in defence.
Undav and Führich, making their second and fourth international appearances respectively, were brought on at the start of the second half.
