Comfortable win over Greuther Fürth

4-0 half-time lead

After an evenly fought opening period, Sebastian Hoeneß’s charges increasingly took control of the match – which was played across two 60-minute halves – and broke the deadlock in the 20^th minute when Enzo Millot finished off a lovely move involving Deniz Undav and Jamie Leweling. A brace from Chris Führich (29’, 46’) and a goal from Leweling (59’) gave VfB a comfortable lead at the interval.

Milosevic at the double

Hoeneß made a number of changes at the break and brought on 10 fresh outfield players in Anthony Rouault, Leonidas Stergiou, Moussa Cisse, Josha Vagnoman, Max Herwerth, Chris Olivier, Genki Haraguchi, Luca Raimund, Jovan Milosevic and Raul Paula. Dennis Srbeny reduced the deficit for Fürth in the 98th minute, but Milosevic had the final say with a brace (99’, 111’) to add gloss to the final 6-1 scoreline.

VfB head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “We had some difficulties early on against a bold Fürth side, but then we seized control and played really well at times. We managed to stretch them a lot, create chances and we also worked well against the ball. The boys who came on in the second half fought their way into the game bit by bit and deservedly scored two goals.”
