VfB brand ambassador Cacau is involved in numerous social projects, including ‘Sports for Life’ in Mogi das Cruzes – a major city east of Cacau’s hometown of Sao Paulo in Brazil. This particular initiative gives children and young people aged between six and 17 access to regular sporting activity, which plays a key role in improving their social skills, reducing social inequalities and integrating children and adolescents into society.
Last month, Cacau attended the initiative’s Christmas party at the Instituto Sementinha alongside the city’s sports secretary Gustavo Nogueira, and was heavily involved in the activities. As well as a football match, there was also a round of ‘Queimada’ – a Brazilian version of dodgeball – much to the delight of the participants. There were plenty of happy faces afterwards too, as Cacau signed autographs and handed out Christmas presents in the form of VfB caps. The 42-year-old also took ample time to speak to all the youngsters.
