RB Leipzig are a force to be reckoned with at home. The club have always had a strong defensive record since their first home game at the Red Bull Arena, but the recent record is particularly impressive. For the third year in a row, the Red Bulls are among the top three in the home league table.

Ahead of this weekend’s home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach, only one team has a better home record so far this season.

Six home games remain

The action will return to Leipzig at 15:30 CET on Saturday, when RB Leipzig host Borussia Mönchengladbach at the Red Bull Arena.

Three important points will be up for grabs as the team look to secure a place in the Champions League for the upcoming season.

Six of the remaining eleven league games will be played at home and Marco Rose can take some confidence in the fact that his side are the team with the second-best home record with 26 points from eleven home games (8 wins, 2 draws, one loss).

Only Borussia Dortmund have a better home record with 28 points.

44 points from home games is possible

In each of the last two years, Leipzig have ended the season in third place in the home league tables, with 37 points in 2020/21 and 35 points in 2021/22.

This season could see the team eclipse this number, with a total return of 44 points possible should the team win each of their remaining home fixtures.

Remaining Bundesliga home games at a glance:

  • RBL vs. Borussia Mönchengladbach | 11/03 (15:30 CET)

  • RBL vs. FSV Mainz 05 | 01/04 (15:30 CET)

  • RBL vs. FC Augsburg | 15/04 (15:30 CET)

  • RBL vs. TSG Hoffenheim | 29/04 (15:30 CET)

  • RBL vs. Werder Bremen | 13/05 (TBD)

  • RBL vs. Schalke 04 | 27/05 (TBD)

History would indicate that chances of three points on Saturday are favourable, as Leipzig are unbeaten at home against Gladbach – the three defeats in the 13 meetings to date have all come away from home.

Of the last four home games against Gladbach, RBL have recorded three wins and one draw.

Last home win against Gladbach was Tedesco’s debut

The last home victory against Gladbach will be a good memory for RBL fans: a 4-1 win in December 2021.

The game was Domenico Tedesco’s debut in charge of the team and marked the beginning of a successful spell at the helm that ended in Champions League qualification and a DFB-Pokal trophy.

Joško Gvardiol (21’) and André Silva (33’) had RBL 2-0 up at the break, before Ramy Bensebaini – who will miss this weekend’s game through suspension – scored a late consolation goal (88’), before goals in added time from Christopher Nkunku (90’+1) and Benjamin Henrichs (90’+4) rounded off a solid victory.

Nobody in Leipzig would be against a similar outcome this Saturday as Marco Rose’s team look to take their ninth victory from 12 home games and continue their push for a Champions League place.
