RB Leipzig lead the way in the ‘Marco Rose table’!

Marco Rose became head coach of RBL this season ahead of matchday 6, and since then, Leipzig have picked up 37 points – more than any other team!

Before this weekend’s reverse fixture against Borussia Dortmund, it is a good time to look back at Marco Rose’s tenure so far. After all, his first game as coach was the home match against BVB.

“From now on, we are a team and want to be successful together, which will happen through the atmosphere and mood – everyone has to know what we are about and approach everything with a lot of confidence,” said Marco at his introduction.

And he was immediately able to start the team on this path. His first game was an impressive one, as Willi Orbán, Dominik Szoboszlai and Amadou Haidara scored in a convincing 3-0 home win against BVB.

Rose’s impressive record

It was the start of a successful run: RBL have won 11 out of their first 17 Bundesliga games under Marco Rose, four have ended in draws and just two have been losses. With 37 points from this period, Leipzig are ahead of FC Bayern (35), Borussia Dortmund (34) and Union Berlin (32).

Marco Rose‘sstatistics as a head coach make for great reading. The former defender already had excellent records at his previous clubs Borussia Mönchengladbach (1.7 points per Bundesliga game) and Borussia Dortmund (2.0), but Marco has been able to improve on that at RBL.

With an average of 2.2 points per game, the 46-year-old has the best record of all Leipzig head coaches in the Bundesliga.

An excellent combination

Marco’s connection to the club is also close. He feels at home in Leipzig, having began his career at VfB Leipzig and had his first role as head coach at 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig.

I identify very strongly with my home and this city, that’s what I’ve always said,” explained Marco when he started in September 2022, and that is what makes the combination of RBLand Marco Rose so perfect.

On Friday evening, first place in the ‘Rose table’ on the line, so the second match-up with BVB can hopefully be crowned with a victory too. The fact that the Bulls have been very strong away from home recently is certainly a positive sign.

RBL have won four of the last five away games, and have only lost once away from home since Rose took charge – in his first away game against Gladbach.
