Exclusive insight: Out in Marseilles with Mo Simakan

Mo Simakan has been wearing an RB Leipzig shirt since the summer of 2021. A year and a half and 68 competitive games later, and you can hardly think of the team without thinking of the 22-year-old!

Mo has quickly developed into a fan favourite since his arrival in Leipzig and has increased his attacking output in his last few months.

Having initially been called upon mostly as a centre-back, he has played more commonly as a right-back under head coach Marco Rose.

And to good effect: Mo has scored four goals and picked up a further 7 assists since his move to Leipzig. He has also broken through as a right-back for the France U21 squad.

Back to his roots

These strong numbers were followed in December of last year by a new contract, with the defender extending ahead of time until 2027.
