Weghorst’s loan at Hoffenheim comes to an end

The 31-year-old Weghorst made 28 Bundesliga appearances for TSG Hoffenheim in the last Bundesliga season. He scored seven goals and recorded three assists. The 1.94m tall striker also appeared in both of the Kraichgau side’s two matches in the DFB-Pokal.

Weghorst has been playing for the Dutch national team since the start of 2018 and has netted 11 goals in 36 appearances to date. At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, he and his team only lost out to eventual world champions Argentina in the quarter-finals, where he scored two goals during regulation time and netted once in the subsequent penalty shoot-out. He has already made three appearances at the current European Championship in Germany, scoring one goal.

His contract at Burnley runs until 30.06.2025.
