Real Madrid will not make any ‘movement’ for Chelsea’s Kai Havertz and are instead pursuing the €80million signing of Tottenham striker Harry Kane, according to a report.
Kane is being targeted by Madrid and Manchester United with his Spurs contract expiring at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is unsurprisingly reluctant to sell his team’s best player and has reportedly slapped a monstrous £100m price tag on the England captain.
Resolving Kane’s future will be one of Ange Postecoglou’s first major tasks having been announced as the club’s new head coach on Tuesday.
A move to United makes the most sense for the 29-year-old, who wants to compete for trophies in England while he chases down Alan Shearer’s all-time record of 260 Premier League goals.
This is one of the few things that should be holding Kane back from a move to Real Madrid, who are arguably the biggest club in world football and a well-oiled winning machine.
Obviously, packing up and moving to another country would be daunting and is not an easy decision to make, especially given the size of Kane’s family, but a football career is short and the Spurs man does not want to think about what could have been after he hangs up his boots.
Replacing Kane will not be easy for Spurs, but Real Madrid have also been given a similar mission with Karim Benzema set to leave the club for Saudi Arabian outfit Al Ittihad.
The current Ballon d’Or holder has led the line at the Bernabeu for the last 14 years but has enjoyed the best spell of his career over the last five years.
Kane is the leading candidate to become Los Blancos’ new No. 9, while the Spanish giants have also been linked with Chelsea forward Kai Havertz.
, but a report from Marca has now said the German will not be joining Madrid.
Havertz has ‘disappeared’ from Ancelotti’s summer wishlist and there has not been any ‘movement’ made by the La Liga club. This means ‘operation Kane’, who is ‘the chosen one’ is officially ‘underway’.
The report claims that Kane has ‘given his OK’ to the operation with Madrid hoping to strike an €80m (£69m) deal with the Premier League club.
Ancelotti and the Real bosses see the signing of a new striker as ‘urgent and necessary’ but are reluctant to spend over €100m on the England skipper, especially after the disappointing addition of Eden Hazard, who cost Los Blancos a similar fee despite having a single year left on his Chelsea deal.
Kane is actually regarded as a ‘similar’ player to Benzema and Ancelotti sees him as an ‘ideal replacement’ for the Frenchman, the report adds.
Man Utd have reportedly made a record-breaking offer for England striker Harry Kane as the Red Devils look to provide Ruben Amorim with increased firepower.
Are the wheels coming off at Arsenal? Stewie Griffin makes an appearance but he’s not the only one worried about Arsenal.
Arsenal are reportedly ‘readying a move’ to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic next summer, as they feel he is a ‘Harry Kane sort of player’ who will ‘guarantee goals’ for …
Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has singled out Kai Havertz for criticism as the Gunners lost to Bournemouth on Saturday.
Arsenal sorting out depth in left-back and right-wing are two reasons why they can finally topple Premier League champions Man City this season.
