When the Turn- und Sportgemeinschaft Hoffenheim was founded in the Kraichgau on 1 July 1899, nobody could have imagined that this club would be playing in European competition – yet again – 125 years later. In the 2024/25 season, our village of around 3,300 inhabitants will be represented on the international stage for the fourth time.
The 125-year anniversary of TSG Hoffenheim will be capped by the men’s participation in the UEFA Europa League and the U19s in the UEFA Youth League. But it is not only the European matches that will be a highlight. There will be several events to mark the anniversary spread throughout the season.
The official celebrations will kick off with the TSG Summer Festival from 21 to 23 June, during which the PreZero Arena will turn into a meeting point for all sports lovers. From yoga on the “sacred turf” to the JOMA mini football tournament with a total of 296 teams, there’s will be bit of everything. The official season opening ceremony on 10 August will also be dedicated to 125 years of club history. The other highlights include a gala event and a special anniversary matchday together with a special shirt. In addition, a ‘History’ button will be added to the TSG website to reflect the club’s history. Further events will be announced over the course of the coming weeks and months.
“For us at TSG Hoffenheim, it’s a wonderful anniversary. We’ve been competing as a village club with the biggest cities in Germany for years. We’re immensely delighted that two teams will be representing our hometown at European level. Throughout the season, we want to take all the people from the region who are always with us on our anniversary journey and celebrate some special events together,” said Kristian Baumgärtner, the President of TSG Hoffenheim.
