Pál Dárdai has taken on VfB Stuttgart at the Olympiastadion as Hertha head coach three times. On each occasion, the Hungarian coach’s side have had the upper hand – most recently on 4th May 2019. Now the aim is to do this for a fourth time. “In Munich, we saw a team on the pitch. The team has to stay compact like that. The most important thing is that we have confidence among ourselves, the fans will always be behind us,” said the head coach. The number four was also reference by the head coach himself when asked about his possible line-up for the weekend’s game. “On Saturday, we have to send out a team with a winning mentality that can win the game for us. Football has its own dynamic. Winning is important – not explaining how to win. Four games, four wins – that’s the motto we are living by!” herthabsc.com has all of Dárdai key comments on…

… the approach to the season’s run-in:

Pál Dárdai: The boys have to keep working like they have in the last few days. They have been working like angels since the Bremen game. If you stay persistent and keep going then the points will come, which we also need! In Munich, we saw a team on the pitch. The team has to stay compact like that. The most important thing is that we have confidence among ourselves, the fans will always be behind us. On Saturday, we have to send out a team with a winning mentality that can win the game for us. Football has its own dynamic. Winning is important – not explaining how to win. Four games, four wins – that’s the motto we’re living by!

… team news and preparation for VfB Stuttgart:

Pál Dárdai: I already have ideas for the weekend – the boys have to implement these on the pitch. We want to win the ball back early and then use our possession better. In training, we have been working without much contact on our shape in order to be ready for the task facing us at the weekend. The focus has also been on build-up, getting out of an aggressive press and on dangerous areas which our attackers can break into. Every one of the boys has to give what he can. I have 80-90% of my starting eleven for Saturday in my head, but lots of things can happen before then and there are also still a few conversations that I need to have. Almost all the players are healthy, which is nice!

… VfB Stuttgart and their coach:

Pál Dárdai: Stuttgart have pulled away a bit recently, but they are an opponent that we can beat at home. Every team has their weaknesses that we have to take advantage of. I don’t think that their DFB-Pokal game gives us an advantage. We do have an advantage because we are playing at home! I obviously still know their head coach Sebastian Hoeneß. He trained with us a few times during my time working here. He is an honest lad with great character, a good guy, just like his father.
