Just two days after the post-match press conference following the home game against Bayern, head coach Sandro Schwarz took to the podium once again on Monday, though not at the Olympiastadion, but back in the press room at Hertha’s training facility. The games just keep on coming – on Tuesday (8th November, 20:30 CET), the Old Lady will play their final Bundesliga away game on 2022, as they travel to VfB Stuttgart. “It’s key that we stay patient, but also stay perseverant to keep on going, so we can develop our consistency, determination and patience to win matches,” explained Schwarz on the factors that would his side will need to display to get a result on Tuesday. Herthabsc.com has summarised his key responses, as our coach discussed…

…preparation for the Stuttgart game:

Sandro Schwarz: “The short turnaround time hasn’t posed much of a problem for us. On Sunday, we took the time to look over the Bayern game and understand the result. That was about understanding the situations that we could have taken more from in order to turn the game in our favour. We are using Monday to analyse Stuttgart and fully prepare for that game.”

…what he expects from the game:

Sandro Schwarz: “Stuttgart have played with a few different formations under their head coach Michael Wimmer, including with three at the back and most recently with four. We’re expecting a hard-fought match and a great atmosphere at the ground. Stuttgart have a direct style of play, and they like to cross the ball from the left hand side. That’s what we will need to defend with consistency, but also take our chances using our own strengths.”

…his sides’ current points total:

Sandro Schwarz: “The lads are totally clear and focused – and you can see that on the pitch. But are we frustrated that we have one or two fewer points that we would like. But we will never sulk about getting unlucky, and now we’re simply looking to our next game, to get another result. We have to keep our performance up every week and keep to our principles – that’s how we will do it!”

…potential to improve:

Sandro Schwarz: “The fact is that we have definitely got to keep improving in certain areas, we are aware of that responsibility. Across large parts of the game our performance and attitude are already very good, but there are often times where we are still sloppy, which has happened too often in some games. However, it’s key that we stay patient, but also stay perseverant to keep on going, so we can develop our consistency, determination and patience to win matches.”
