Best game of the Tuchel era? Probably. Bayern Munich swept Schalke aside while barely breaking a sweat. Every single attacker did their part, and Mazraoui even got on the scoresheet for the first time. It’s late in the season but it’s soo good to see the team’s still got something in its tank.
Serge Gnabry is finally on a hot scoring streak. Does that mean Bayern should keep him?
Jamal Musiala looks so much better on the wing, moving him to the center has been a detriment to his game.
Thomas Muller in the XI makes the whole team play better. Anyone still denying this is blind.

Halftime observations and analysis

When Thomas Muller plays for Bayern Munich, good things happen. This is the most dynamic and unpredictable the attack has looked in weeks. While the goals are lacking mainly due to poor finishing, the chance creation is excellent.
Jamal Musiala is struggling to use his dribbling skills stuck in the center. Please someone put him on the wing.
Nouassair Mazraoui is just an unbelievably good right-back.

Kickoff: We’re underway!

One hour until kickoff: We have lineups! It looks like Bayern Munich will line up in a 4-1-4-1 with Thomas Muller as the captain. Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Kingsley Coman all start. Sadio Mane has been benched today — the only fit attacker on the bench. Meanwhile, the rest of the lineup remains familiar.

So here’s the situation. Bayern Munich have a measly one point lead at the top of the Bundesliga, and only three games left to play. With Borussia Dortmund showing no signs of slowing down, Thomas Tuchel effectively has three finals to close out the season. Lose a single one and it’s all over. A decade of Bundesliga dominance goes poof.

First up in the gauntlet is Schalke. They’ve actually been in decent form as of late, managing to claw their way out of the relegation zone with wins over Mainz and Werder Bremen. While Bayern are a different kind of beast entirely, a team fighting relegation is known to be a dangerous opponent.

Tuchel will have Leon Goretzka and Dayot Upamecano back for this one, but critically Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting remains injured. Goals, therefore, will have to come from the likes of Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, and Leroy Sane — all of whom have been on the scoresheet lately. Meanwhile, the media will be watching closely to see if Thomas Muller gets more than a cameo. It’s never easy being a coach of this club.
