A strong BVB claimed their biggest win of the season – thanks to their incredible efficiency. Borussia converted six of their 11 shots at goal and scored almost three goals more than expected based on the quality of their chances (xGoals: 3.27-1.59). The match facts.

Reus’ record: The captain scored his 160th and 161st competitive goals for BVB and overtook Michael Zorc (159) in the process. Historically, only Adi Preißler is still ahead. Following the introduction of the Oberliga West in 1947, Preißler scored 177 goals for BVB. A complete record of all BVB goal scorers has only been kept since then. The goals Preißler scored in the two seasons before 1947/48 are not included in his 177 goals.

Landmark figure: Marco Reus has now netted 150 goals in the Bundesliga (114 for BVB, 36 for Gladbach).

Double-scorer: Like Sébastien Haller, Marco Reus bagged his first brace of the Bundesliga campaign. It was the 23rd time he has scored more than once in the Bundesliga; Thomas Müller is the only current player to surpass that tally (24). Haller scored his first brace in a BVB shirt and his third in the Bundesliga overall.

More points than games: Raphael Guerreiro has been involved in nine goals in his seven Bundesliga appearances since the winter break (two goals, seven assists) and has the most scorer points of any player in the league in 2023. He is the joint top-scorer at BVB this season along with Julian Brandt: both players have 12 goal involvements.

Strong form: The Black & Yellows have taken 28 out of a possible 30 points since the winter break.

Strong at home: Borussia Dortmund are unbeaten in 14 home games in all competitions and have won all six matches at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK since the winter break.

Temporary table-toppers: Borussia Dortmund have returned to the top of the table until tomorrow at least; BVB were last at the very top after a full matchday three and a half years ago.

Central figure: In his 100th Bundesliga appearance for BVB and his first start since Matchday 3 – a shoulder injury subsequently kept him sidelined until the new year – Mahmoud Dahoud produced a good performance, misplaced hardly any passes during build-up play (91% pass completion rate) and also won over 70% of his challenges in the first period.

Goal-hungry: For the first time this season, BVB scored more than three goals in the first 45 minutes.

Historic home run: Borussia Dortmund have scored at least one goal for the 46th home game in a row and extended the club record in the process!
