Borussia Dortmund have signed Paul-Philipp Besong for the U23s. The centre-forward is returning to BVB after four years away and has penned a contract until 30/06/2025.

After spending 10 years in total in the Borussia Dortmund youth set-up, Besong opted to make the transfer to 1. FC Nürnberg in the summer of 2019. After a long spell out with injury, he moved to Erzgebirge Aue on loan the following season. The Fröndenberg native scored five goals and claimed two assists across 31 third-tier appearances.

Besong had previously helped BVB win the German A-Junior Championship in 2019. He scored two goals in the space of five minutes against VfB Stuttgart in the final, which ended in a 5-3 victory.

“As a Dortmund lad, Paul is a familiar face and absolutely wanted to play in Black & Yellow again. We are sure that we will have a lot of fun with him,” said the delighted sporting director Ingo Preuß of the centre-forward.
