The draw for the first round of the 2023/24 DFB-Pokal campaign will take place during the ZDF-Sportreportage on Sunday 18 June (live from 17:10 CET). The 32 matches will be played between 11 and 14 August 2023.

The draw will take place at the German Football Museum in Dortmund. Pole vaulter Sarah Vogel will draw the names.

In total, 64 teams have qualified for the first round. All 18 Bundesliga clubs plus the top 14 from the 2. Bundesliga last season are in the first pot, with the other teams in the amateur pot. For each tie, a ball will be drawn from the amateur pot first and then another ball will be taken from the first pot. The team that is drawn first will have home advantage.
