VfL Bochum 1848 has signed Ukrainian international Ivan Ordets on a one-year deal. This is made possible thanks to special rules adopted by FIFA as a result of the war in Ukraine. According to them, the contracts of foreign professionals playing in Russia may be suspended until 30/06/2023. Ivan Ordets has been playing for Russian Premier League club Dinamo Moscow since 2019.

The 6ft 5 centre back came through the ranks at Shakhtar Donetsk and has played 98 games in Ukraine’s top league for both the 13-time Ukrainian champions and Football Club Mariupol. With Shakhtar Donetsk, he won the league twice, the Ukrainian Cup three times and one time Super Cup winner. Ordets made the switch to Dinamo Moscow in 2019 and was named “Player of the Season” right in his debut season.

Sebastian Schindzielorz, Director of Sport at VfL Bochum 1848, says: “Ivan Ordets is tall, physically strong, robust in tackling, whether in the air or on the ground. We will introduce him to the team as quickly as possible, and the training camp offers the ideal setting for this.”
