Welcome back: Jordi Osei-Tutu and VfL Bochum 1848 are reunited again! The 23-year-old Englishman already knows castroper Straße, in the 2019/20 season he was here on loan. Now, VfL and the ‘Gunners’ have reached an agreement in which Osei-Tutu will move to Bochum free of charge. His new contract runs until June 30, 2025.
The defender returns for his second spell at the club. In 2019/20 he played 22 games for VfL, the fast winger scored five goals and three assists. After his return to London, Arsenal loaned him out to Cardiff City, Nottingham Forrest and, last season, to Rotherham United. With the ‘Millers’ from South Yorkshire, Jordi Osei-Tutu finished second in League One and was promoted to the Championship, the second highest division in England.
“We know Jordi Osei-Tutu very well, the memories of his skills and strengths are still very fresh in everyone’s mind,” said Sebastian Schindzielorz, Director of Sport, at VfL Bochum 1848. “Speed, dynamism and technique are what set him apart. We continued to watch him after his season at VfL and followed his development. Jordi has matured further, his potential is still enormous. We are optimistic that he will make the leap to the Bundesliga.”
Jordi Osei-Tutu himself is “happy to be back in Bochum and at VfL. The last few years have been a bit more difficult for me. I can’t wait to play in front of the fans here again and get to know my new team – I still know some of the players. The Bundesliga will be a new challenge.”
