During a press conference at the Stadtwerke Bochum LOUNGE this week, Christopher Antwi-Adjei was introduced to the schoolchildren in attendance as the new sponsor of the “Football Meets Culture” project. The event was part of the so-called FtK-Club Challenge, where the children learn about the football characteristics of their favourite club as well as its history and fan culture.
In an exciting question and answer session, the pupils from the Werner-von-Siemens School were able to put all their questions to the VfL professional. The children learned, for example, how Antwi-Adjei found his way into professional football or how he prepares for games. They also learned a lot about Jimmy’s eating habits, musical tastes and hobbies. Conversely, the new project sponsor also showed great interest in the habits of the students. In the end, of course, every photo wish was fulfilled and the group unanimously stated that they were already looking forward to the further highlights with the new project sponsor.
In addition to Christopher Antwi-Adjei, Gizem Killic, VfL player and coach of the project, will also remain a sponsor of “Football Meets Culture”.
The “Football Meets Culture” project has already been taking place at the Bochum and Herne sites in cooperation with LitCam since the 2015/16 season. The project is part of the CSR theme BOCHUMER GEMEINSCHAFT. As part of it, weekly football training sessions are held. The students also receive an additional range of lessons and cultural events. The Werner von Siemens School in Bochum and the Mont Cenis School in Herne are involved in the project. The aim of the cooperation is to strengthen education and integration, especially for disadvantaged children.
