Niklas Dorsch moves to 1. FC Heidenheim
Previously played for FCH between 2018 and 2020
FC Augsburg and upcoming opponents 1. FC Heidenheim (Sunday, 1st September, 15:30 CEST) have agreed a deal for the immediate transfer of Niklas Dorsch on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old, who joined FCA in 2021 from KAA Gent, will return to the club he previously played for between 2018 and 2020. Both clubs have agreed to keep the details of the agreement undisclosed
“My goal is to regularly play the full 90 minutes. That’s why I approached the club’s management team with a transfer request, because I had the feeling that I wouldn’t be getting the minutes I’d hoped for with FCA this season. I’m delighted to be moving back to familiar territory in Heidenheim. I would like to say a big thank you to FCA, as they continuously supported me as I dealt with injury over the past years,” said Dorsch.
Dorsch’s request granted
“Niklas did well during pre-season and earned his first appearances this season in the DFB-Pokal and our first Bundesliga game against Bremen. He recently shared his request for a transfer with us and reiterated that he had hoped to play more. Due to the constructive nature of our discussions and the current make-up of our squad, we were open to finding a solution that worked for all those involved. Once the opportunity of a move to Heidenheim came up, it presented a situation which we could agree to. We would like to thank Niklas Dorsch for his efforts at FCA and wish him all the best for the future,” said FCA sporting director Marinko Jurendic.
Dorsch featured in 66 competitive games for FCA, scoring two goals and providing one assist. His most recent goal for FCA came in the first round of the 2023/24 DFB-Pokal against Regionalliga side Viktoria Berlin.
