FCA complete the signing of Dimitrios Giannoulis
Greek international joins the club on a free
Greek international Dimitrios Giannoulis, who played 38 games in all competitions for English Championship side Norwich City last season, has joined FC Augsburg on a free transfer. The 28-year-old left-back has signed a long-term contract valid until 30th June 2028 and arrived at the training camp in South Africa on Tuesday.
FCA now have a second left-back in their squad with the signing of Dimitrios Giannoulis. The defender has won 27 caps so far for Greece, and has played 75 times in the English Championship, 18 games in the Premier League, four matches in the Europa League and six Champions League qualifiers.
“My conversations with FC Augsburg were always really positive and I’m really happy that I was able to join up with the rest of the squad here for the training camp in South Africa. A training camp is always a good opportunity to get to know the team and to integrate quicker. Looking ahead to the new season, that was really important for me because I want to impress with my performances and hard work right away so that we can achieve our joint goals,” said Dimitrios Giannoulis.
“We’re really pleased that Dimitrios Giannoulis has decided to join FCA. He’s a dynamic, hard-running full-back, whose tough-tackling nature will help our defence, while he will also be able to add a new dimension to our attacking game. By signing Dimitrios, we’ve now got another option on the left side and believe we’ve got this position well covered now. We would like to wish Dimitrios a good start and all the best at FCA,” explained sporting director Marinko Jurendic.
