Ermedin Demirović moves to VfB Stuttgart
A record sale for FCA
After two successful years at the club, FCA striker Ermedin Demirović has decided to take the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season. He captained the Fuggerstädter last term and played a total of 66 competitive games for the club, scoring 23 goals and providing 16 assists. The 26-year-old forward came to the club with a request to make this transfer, which FCA agreed to. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose the terms of the move.
Ermedin Demirović joined FCA from SC Freiburg in July 2022 and soon became a key part of the team. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international particularly impressed last season, scoring 15 goals, which set a new record for the most for the club from one player in a Bundesliga season. The Hamburg-born forward also managed ten assists, giving him the fifth-most goal involvements in the league last season.
A new record sale for FCA
“It’s not easy to be leaving FC Augsburg, as I had a wonderful time here and made a lot of friends. FCA put a lot of trust in me and gave me the chance to develop as a player and pick up valuable experience as captain,” said Ermedin Demirović. “I now want to face this new adventure at Stuttgart and fulfil my dream of playing in the Champions League. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all of the FCA fans and the club for allowing me to make this transfer and I look forward to seeing you again whenever I return to the WWK ARENA.”
“Demi always led by example as captain and is a model of hard work and strong mentality. He put in consistently good performances last season, scored a lot of great and important goals and was a pillar of our team both on and off the pitch. It won’t be easy to make up for his departure, but we wanted to allow him to make the move he wanted and let him take the next step in his career. We wish Demi all the best for his personal and professional future and thank him for his performances at FCA and our time together,” said FCA sporting director Marinko Jurendic.
FCA CEO Michael Ströll added: “Demi has developed really well at FCA, and that shows that top players can grow in Augsburg. After Demi told us that he wanted to move to Stuttgart, we reached an agreement with VfB which works for everyone after good and honest discussions. Transfer fees of this size, which we’ve never had before, are also hugely important for the club to be in the best possible position for the future. We wish Demi all the very best for the rest of his career both on and off the pitch.”
An official farewell planned at the WWK ARENA
It’ll take a bit of time before Ermedin Demirović returns to the WWK ARENA. VfB Stuttgart visit Augsburg on Matchday 16 (10th to 12th January 2025). FCA would like to give him the chance to say goodbye to the FCA fans before then, however. We will discuss possible dates with the striker.
