Demirović captains Bosnia again and Vargas’ Switzerland draw
FCA players in international action
Ermedin Demirović captained Bosnia and Herzegovina once again on Sunday evening as his side were only narrowly beaten away in Italy.
Demirović also wore the captain’s armband in the 3-0 defeat to England in the previous game. The 26-year-old played the full 90 minutes of the friendly against Italy, who will face Spain, Croatia and Albania in the group stage of the EUROs. In the end, Davide Frattesi’s 38th-minute strike was enough for the Azzurri to narrowly come out on top.
While Demirović can now enjoy his summer break, Ruben Vargas will be in action for Switzerland at the European Championships. His side will firstly take on Hungary on Saturday, 15th June (15:00 CEST), before facing Scotland (Monday, 19th June, 21:00 CEST) and Germany (Sunday, 23rd June, 21:00 CEST).
Vargas impresses in Switzerland draw
Switzerland drew 1-1 at home to neighbours Austria on Saturday afternoon in their final friendly before the EUROs. After the visitors had taken an early lead, Vargas was heavily involved in the equaliser. In the 26th minute, the FCA attacker cut inside from the right to strike powerfully at goal, and Silvan Widmer was on hand to tap home the rebound. The 26-year-old again showed that he can be a key player for his team during the tournament.
