“We deserved to come away with a point”

After giving their all for the entire 90 minutes against sixth-place Eintracht Frankfurt, the Green-Whites were ultimately satisfied to bring home a point from Deutsche Bank Park on matchday 28. However, it goes without saying that a win could have been on the cards for Werder, especially considering the number of clear-cut chances they had. WERDER.DE were in the mixed zone after the game to gather the reaction to the draw.

“Incredibly important for us”

Marco Friedl had missed the previous four SV Werder games after suffering a syndesmosis ligament tear. The club captain was at that point in extremely good form and had made a vital contribution to his side’s upturn in form around the start of the year. The fact that Friedl returned earlier than expected in the game against VfL Wolfsburg will give his team a boost for the challenges ahead.

Green-Whites defeated by Wolfsburg

On Saturday afternoon, SV Werder Bremen fell to a 2-0 defeat against VfL Wolfsburg at the wohninvest WESERSTADION. The first half remained goalless up until added time, where Lacroix opened the scoring for the visitors (45’ +4). Werder also headed into the break a man down after Anthony Jung was handed a straight red card for a foul on Behrens (44’). Wolfsburg then put their foot on the gas and seized control of the second half, doubling their lead in the 84th minute through Majer to put the game to bed.

SV Werder Bremen

“Need to be bringing our A game for the full 90”

The Green-Whites were left visibly frustrated following the 2-0 defeat at home to VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday afternoon. The sides were level pegging just prior to the break, before Anthony Jung was handed a straight red card, and the visitors proceeded to rub salt in Werder’s wound by opening the scoring minutes after. WERDER.DE were in the mixed zone after the game to gather the reaction to the defeat.

SV Werder Bremen

Ready to put in the hard yards

On Saturday, 30th March at 15:30 CET, SV Werder Bremen will face off against a different VfL Wolfsburg than they did on matchday 10. After being appointed as head coach at the beginning of the international break, Ralph Hasenhüttl will make his first appearance on the sidelines for VfL this weekend at the wohninvest WESERSTADION. Although this is the first time that Hasenhüttl and Werner will come up against each other, SVW’s head coach has already gained an insight into the Austrian’s preferred playing style. “He looks for a high intensity, a direct approach in possession, and a good work ethic,” explained the 35-year-old in the pre-match press conference on Thursday.
