Success in final friendly

The Wolves are ready for the new campaign! In their sixth and final pre-season friendly of the summer, VfL Wolfsburg overcame English Premier League side Brentford 4-0.

Niko Kovac’s charges were in promising form throughout the encounter in front of 3,512 fans at the AOK Stadion, where Patrick Wimmer gave the Green-and-Whites the lead in the 27th minute. Further efforts from Sebastiaan Bornauw (56’), Jonas Wind (66’) and Jakub Kaminski (86’) in the second half rounded out the scoreline.

Maaßen: “Get out of the starting blocks as well as possible”

“In the extended winter break we were able to work on important tactical aspects and to increase the depth of our squad. This gives me optimism for the 19 games that still lie ahead of us,” said FCA head coach Enrico Maaßen, looking ahead positively to the Bundesliga restart in the New Year. For their first game, FCA will travel to face Borussia Dortmund. The Black-Yellows currently lie in sixth place: “BVB have an excellent team and always have the potential to be high up the table come the end of the season.
