FC Bayern Munich scored three early goals as the record Bundesliga champions beat VfL Wolfsburg 4-2 at a sold-out Volkswagen Arena on Sunday evening. Julian Nagelsmann’s side produced a ruthless attacking performance, taking an early 2-0 lead thanks to Kingsley Coman’s brace (9’, 14’) before Thomas Müller added a third (18’). Substitute Jakub Kaminski’s first Bundesliga goal reduced the arrears two minutes before half-time and Bayern’s Joshua Kimmich was shown a second yellow card nine minutes into the second half, but Jamal Musiala restored the visitors’ three-goal advantage (73’). Mattias Svanberg’s effort nine minutes from time was merely a consolation for Niko Kovac’s team, who return to action on Matchday 20 against FC Schalke 04 on Friday 10 February (kick-off 20:30 CET).

The Niederrheinliga side from Essen started with a lot of tempo and created the first chances of the match, with Caroline Junge opening the scoring for SGS on the 13-minute mark. As the match progressed, the Bezirksliga footballers increasingly got to grips with the visitors and twice went close to a possible equaliser via Mia Macarena Bedarf (23) and Marie Grothe (43).

A solid 3-0 win against Bochum

SVW were victorious against Bochum 3-0 at home in the wohninvest WESERSTASDION. The first half started quietly, with both teams waiting and letting the other come to them. SVW were first to really get into the game and created a few opportunities before Niclas Füllkrug (29’) scored to give Werder the lead. From then on, Werder were in control of the game, Bochum hardly had a chance to score; the Green-Whites were solid both at the back and up front. Werder were rewarded for a good first half with another goal shortly before the break, this time scored by Schmidt (43’). In the second half, Ducksch (59’) showed his skill and intelligence to make it 3-0, and Werder secured a deserved victory and picked up all three points.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen has announced that the team will play a friendly against MLS’s newest member, St. Louis CITY SC, on November 16. It will be the inaugural game at St. Louis’s brand-new CITYPARK stadium.
