Jonathan Burkardt is about to begin his fifth season as a Mainz 05 first-team player. Last season, the 22-year-old broke out of his role as the youngster and the one challenging to get in the side. Burkardt was FSV’s top scorer in the Bundesliga last season, netting 11 goals. He’s looking to continue making progress both on and off the field. “I’d like to take on more responsibility within the team,” said Germany U21s’ captain, something which also pleases his head coach.
Sebastian Hoeneß has replaced Bruno Labbadia as VfB Stuttgart head coach with immediate effect, signing a contract valid for both the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 until 30 June 2025. The club has also parted ways with Labbadia, who took over as head coach in December 2022.

This applies from the start of the day’s operations (approx. 03:30 CET) to the end of operations (approx. 01:30 CET the following day). The Unishuttle will also be affected. Similarly, the bus lines operated by DSW21 in the neighbouring towns of Castrop-Rauxel (480, 481, 482 and NE 11) and Schwerte (430, 435 and NE 25) will be affected. Deutsche Bahn and S-Bahn trains that are not affected by the strike may be far busier than usual. Please check directly with your local transport network about possible additional rail capacities (e.g. “Nahverkehr Westfalen-Lippe”).

Despite passionate attacking play right up to the last second, SVW lost to Augsburg 2-1. The opening period got off to an eventful start without hesitation from either side, with a goal apiece. The opening goal by Beljo (6’) was cancelled out by Jens Stage ten minutes later (16’) when the Dane was in the right position at the back post. After that, both teams continued to attack and have chances, and went into half time deservedly level. In the second half, the hosts came out of the dressing room wide awake and took the lead again through Maier (46’). FCA then dropped back and managed to preserve their lead until the end.
What a season! VfL won their final home game against Arminia Bielefeld with a 2-1 win. 42 points on the account, madness! Sebastian Polter put his side ahead with his 10th goal of the season, Arminia equalised out of nowhere. Shortly before the end, Simon Zoller combined with Bielefeld’s Bello to decide the game!
