1. FC Union Berlin

Morten Thorsby signs for Union

Born in the Norwegian capital Oslo, Thorsby’s career quickly gathered pace as a youngster. At 15, he was picked up by Staebek’s U19 side and he made his top-team debut against Molde FK at the age of 17. Teams across the continent took notice of the talented midfielder, but it was the Netherlands that would become his next destination. Thorsby signed for Heerenveen at 18 and became a regular feature in the matchday squad. He would go on to play 130 times for the Eredivisie club, a run of games which put him into the heart of Norway’s national team. At age 21, Thorsby made his full Norway debut against North Macedonia.

FC Bayern München

Julian Nagelsmann happy with Sadio Mane’s improved performances at Bayern Munich

With 11 goals to his name, the Senegalese is the top scorer for the team this season and has earned the coach’s praise: “I’m happy with Sadio Mané’s performance. The development of the past two weeks was good because of his position. He plays more on the wing where he played at Liverpool before. He did well today, like he did in Barcelona and hopefully will continue this way,” said Nagelsmann.

SC Freiburg

Freiburg suffer narrow defeat to FC Bayern

Freiburg looked disciplined in the opening stages and they had the first real opportunity of the game, when Ritsu Doan slipped through Vincenzo Grifo on the left-hand-side. The Italy international, who recently turned 30, got a good connection, but his shot was blocked by Pavard (5’).  A few minutes later, Mark Flekken was tested for the first time when Serge Gnabry fired a powerful header towards goal. The Dutchman got down superbly well to palm the ball away with a strong hand (9’).

Hertha Berlin

“Keep on working hard and picking up points”

It’s never nice to be in the relegation battle, but getting an important home win still feels good. The Herthaner were able to build on a solid first-half performance against FC Augsburg, adding goals after the break to secure a crucial 2-0 victory in the fight to stay up. “The three points were important and we’re incredibly relieved. We knew that it would be a scrap, with a lot of long balls and hard-fought challenges. We were prepared for that, but we can’t afford to rest on our laurels. We have to keep on working hard and picking up points,” said Tolga Ciğerci. herthabsc.com gathered the thoughts from the Hertha camp after Saturday’s win.
