RBL are going back to Berlin! 5-1 win over Freiburg

RB Leipzig are going back to Berlin! The Red Bulls reached their third consecutive DFB-Pokal final with a 5-1 victory over SC Freiburg.

RBL enjoyed a very impressive start to the game and took an early lead. Dani Olmo headed in a cross from Marcel Halstenberg (13’), before turning provider two minutes later, slipping a pass into the area for Benjamin Henrichs to find the bottom corner (15’).

Olmo registered his second of three first-half assists when he played a one-two with Dominik Szoboszlai, who scored the third goal in the 37th minute. Olmo then played in Christopher Nkunku for Leipzig’s fourth goal of the half just before the break (45+1’).

The second half was a less eventful affair until Joško Gvardiol was shown a straight red card on the hour mark for a professional foul (58’). Michael Gregoritsch pulled a goal back for the home side in the 75th minute, but Szoboszlai doubled his tally from the penaltyspot after a foul on Mohamed Simakan (90+7’) to give RBL a 5-1 victory, taking them to their fourth DFB-Pokal final in five years.
