RB Leipzig

Berlin, here we come again!

RB Leipzig are in the DFB-Pokal final | RBL win 5-1 against SC Freiburg | Initial information for the final in Berlin

1. FSV Mainz 05

FSV finish the season in the top half

FSV signed off their season with an entertaining 2-2 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt. Mainz took the lead through Marcus Ingvartsen but Eintracht responded with goals from Tuta and Borré before the break. The Dane, however, scored a second just after half time to put The Zerofivers back on level terms. Although there was technically nothing to play for, there was lots of passion on show in this tightly contested derby. Daniel Brosinski was substituted in the 71st minute to bring the curtain down on his Mainz career.

1. FC Union Berlin

Fun and competition for club partners

It was RTC Spedition und Logistik GmbH who took the trophy after an exciting final against Ahlberg Metaltechnik. It’s the second time in successive years RTC have won the trophy. Freshfoodz GmbH came third, while Aroundtown were fourth.

VfL Wolfsburg

Winless run ended

VfL Wolfsburg picked up a long-awaited three points on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 victory at Köln, registering their first win in the second half of the Bundesliga season. Yannick Gerhardt fired the Green-and-Whites in front in just the fourth minute. In a game of few clear-cut opportunities, VfL kept it tight at the back while continuing to ask questions in attack. Eventually it was Maximilian Arnold’s 68th-minute penalty which sealed the Wolves’ first win in six games in all competitions. Niko Kovac’s side can follow that up next Sunday, 5 March, when they host Eintracht Frankfurt at the Volkswagen Arena (kick-off 17:30 CET).

Selke double helps Cologne end Leverkusen’s 14-game unbeaten run

Cologne’s Davie Selke struck twice in the first half — either side of Amine Adli’s equaliser — to give them their third straight away win, their longest winning run away from home in 31 years.

SV Werder Bremen

“It will always be something special”

It’s been almost five years since Marco Friedl pulled on the green and white of SV Werder for the first time. He only really knew the red of FC Bayern München before that, however. Alongside his Austrian hometown of Kirchbichl, the 25-year-old also called Munich home for much of his life and still has a special connection to the city and the club, so there’s added anticipation for the Bremen captain this week in the build-up to Saturday’s meeting between SVW and FCB (18:30 CEST).

VfL Bochum 1848

Continue Seriously

The cup is history. Now the focus solely lies on keeping the league. On Saturday afternoon, VfL have the chance to secure three more important points in order to reach the big aim. SpVgg Greuther Fürth will be guests at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion. In the run-up to the crucial match, head coach Thomas Reis answered the journalists’ question at the press conference

FC Bayern München

World Champion Bastian Schweinsteiger picks his favorites for the FIFA World Cup

According to Basti, individual quality and a great balance in the squad are the attributes that stand out the most for France. “I would say France. They have the most quality players and the best mix in their squad. If they all are fit, they are the biggest favorite. Just watch Kylian Mbappe… it’s a joy, he’s a fantastic player.” said Schweinsteiger. In hindsight, these two strengths greatly benefitted the French squad in the 2018 World Cup too. There were other teams that seemingly played football more mesmerizing than the French did, but at the end of the day, it was Les Bleus that churned out the results in their favor.
