Niclas Füllkrug awarded “Rising Star of the Year”

On Monday evening, Niclas Füllkrug received the award of SPORT BILD’s “Rising Star of the Year” for 2023. The 30-year-old accepted the trophy personally at the Hamburger Fischauktionshalle, announcing on stage in his speech: “I benefit a lot from our attacking style of play. We always set out to press high and win the ball in the final third of the pitch – I just try to get myself in the best possible position and score a goal or two.”

Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann says Joao Cancelo “is not a back three player” after Augsburg win

Okay, maybe a lot sick of it, but bringing in Cancelo to play a part in high profile matches was part of the plan, right?

TSG Hoffenheim

TSG show their commitment to the region

Together for the region: that was the motto that TSG Hoffenheim used to send a strong sign of their affiliation with their home region during their home match against SC Freiburg. During the Bundesliga games in the PreZero Arena in the 2023/24 season, the municipal coats of arms from the region will be repeatedly displayed on the LED hoardings around the pitch.

VfB news: Full focus on RB Leipzig

With a short turnaround ahead of the away game in Leipzig, we bring you all the latest news from the club’s headquarters. The new third jersey is set to be launched, while the home game against SC Freiburg is sold out.

1. FC Union Berlin

Union lose away at Borussia Dortmund

Marvin Friedrich put one in his own net before Kruse scored from the penalty spot on 57 minutes. Substitute Voglsammer headed in at a corner kick with nine minutes to play as Union pushed for an equaliser. That spirit was squashed shortly after as Haaland put home his second of the game to kill off the contest and leave the three points with Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund

“We had a lot of space in behind the lines”

Karim Adeyemi: “We had a lot of fun. We had a lot of space in behind the lines. We played a very good game and very much deserved to win. Everything went well. We were very aggressive and showed desire. Before the penalty, I asked him (editor’s note: Marco Reus): Can I take it? He said: Yes you take it. Ultimately, it really hurts. I should’ve left it to Marco. It’s about the team, I’m very annoyed that I didn’t score the three goals. But I am firmly convinced that we will win the next game too. Unfortunately, however, we don’t have it in our own hands.”

FC Bayern München

Roma coach José Mourinho “jealous” of Bayern Munich squad depth in Champions League victory over PSG

Per Sport1, after the game, Mourinho jokingly said: “I am actually not a jealous man, but when I saw yesterday who Bayern subbed in with [Serge] Gnabry, [Sadio] Mané and [Leroy] Sané, I did indeed turn a bit envious.”

SC Freiburg

Welcome back, Milli!

Philipp moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2017/18 and featured 51 times for BVB in the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal, the Europa League and the Champions League. Following his time with Dortmund, the attacker had spells with Russian side Dynamo Moscow and then VfL Wolfsburg. The 29-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at SV Werder Bremen and actually scored against Freiburg.
