At first glance, Mitchell Weiser’s return to the starting eleven against Bayern München on Friday evening might not feel like a comeback. Weiser worked hard throughout the summer to get back into the action again quickly and, during the training camp in Zillertal, he revealed that he was missing the day-to-day competitiveness that training with the team brings. Even though Weiser still hasn’t reached full fitness, his return was a redeeming feature of the Bundesliga opener.
