A chaotic end to Saturday night’s clash with TSG Hoffenheim saw SV Werder Bremen defeated 3-2. Schmid had provided a glimmer of hope for the Green-Whites after putting them level in the 17th minute, but the home side were unable to turn the tide in their favour in the first half. With time running out, Werder were able to produce a late rally and Stage levelled the match once again with a spectacular finish (90+1’). The joy was short-lived, however, as Bülter quickly scored a third for the away side (90+2’) to put the game to bed, leaving the Green-Whites with nothing to show for their hard work.

Ermedin Demirović: “The defeat hurts, especially just after the game. To have given away a penalty so early on is really annoying, and once again we had to chase the game from behind. Overall, both were poor goals to concede, in ways that we have spoken about before. Nevertheless, we had the chances to get back in the game. I personally also had to score. We have to now look at the game, get cleverer and then reward ourselves with points once again.”
