“It’s annoying to draw 0-0”

• “To put it simply, it would’ve been nice to cap off a very good set of results with three points, especially considering the tricky situation we find ourselves in with a couple of injuries and a tight fixture schedule. We’ve done superbly up to this point, in terms of our performances as well as our results, with the exception of the game against City. It goes without saying, then, that we’re disappointed to have only gotten a point today.

  I can live with the result, however, because I saw what my team were trying to do during the game. We kept on coming back into the game with energy in an effort to break down a stubborn opponent. It’s possible that we didn’t make the right decisions in our build-up play on a couple of occasions due to a lack of freshness, and that cost us chances. That being said, we kept a clean sheet and just have to deal with the fact that we drew.“
   

Rouven Schröder

• “It’s obviously annoying to miss two penalties. You’ve got to hit it a bit harder than that if you want to score the first penalty. The second one was another chance to take the lead, but sometimes it’s just not your day. We’ve got to stay patient and use our chances, and we didn’t do that today.

  That’s why it’s annoying to draw 0-0, but that’s football. We’ve got 14 points to our name now and are full of ambition. But we’re still annoyed about the result today. Now, we’ll regroup and then try to get a win in Darmstadt.“

• “As expected, it was a tricky game. We knew that it would get more and more difficult the longer it stayed goalless. We just couldn’t unlock the defence today. Then, there’s the fact that we missed two penalties. The fact that a game like that ends 0-0 is really annoying. We’re irritated that we’ve dropped two points.

  Gegen eine Mannschaft wie Bochum, die so tief steht, bekommt man nicht zehn Hochkaräter. Wir hatten noch einen guten Kopfball von Yussi und einen Schuss von Xavi aus 16 Metern, das waren gute Chancen. Unsere Flanken über die Außen waren heute nicht gut. Am Ende des Tages musst du irgendwann das Tor machen und das ist uns heute nicht gelungen. You don’t get many chances against teams like Bochum; they sit back so much. We had a couple of good chances – Yussi’s header and Xavi’s shot from 16 yards out spring to mind. Our crossing wasn’t good enough today. When all’s said and done, you’ve got to fiond a way to score, and we just couldn’t today.“
