It’s crunch time in Euro 2024 qualifying. Austria head to Belgium as the second-placed team in Group F despite being level on points with the Red Devils. There are – somewhat surprisingly – three SCF players in their ranks after head coach Ralf Rangnick picked the injured Michael Gregoritsch and Philipp Lienhart in his Austrian squad. Junior Adamu was also a late call-up on Sunday evening. Roland Sallai and Hungary also have a great chance to qualify – they are currently tied for points at the top of Group G with Serbia and play the Eagles on Saturday.
Another trio of SCF players will compete for Euros qualification with the Germany U21 side. After starting their campaign with a win over Kosovo, Noah Atubolu, Merlin Röhl, Kenneth Schmidt and Co. will face off against Bulgaria in Sofia. Their game against Israel has been rescheduled by UEFA following the recent terrorist attack on the country.
Kiliann Sildillia has been called up to the France U21 squad, who have European qualifiers against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Cyprus. Mika Baur and the German U20 side will play friendlies against Portugal and the Czech Republic.
The SC players who are not on international duty will be involved in a friendly against FC Basel. The game will take place behind closed doors at the training ground on Thursday.
