Edin Terzic on the game:
“In the first half in particular, we lost possession countless times in the build-up, we made several technical errors. What we didn’t like at all was the reaction – that when we lost the balls, we didn’t shake it off. We stopped where we were and left our teammates alone. These are the things that we absolutely have to cut out. We already addressed that during the half-time break. We want to minimise the errors. But we have to stay active and brave and demand the ball. We did that better in the second half, even though we gave away a few balls and allowed the opposition too many chances of scoring.”

“We were very surprised Nagelsmann & his two assistants were sacked,” said Bayern defender Benjamin Pavard after the game (via @iMiaSanMia). “I’d like to dedicate today’s win to them. But that’s football, we players don’t make these decisions. The new coach is very experienced and successful. We have to move on and continue like today.”

SV Werder Bremen were unable able to kick off 2024 with a win after losing 3-1 to second-division side Eintracht Braunschweig in a friendly fixture on Sunday. Fabio Kaufmann gave the hosts an early lead (10’), which was doubled by Rayan Philippe just before the break (41’). After half time, Thórir Helgaso fired home Eintracht’s third (47’), which the Green-Whites were able to respond to through Nick Woltemade in the closing stages (83’), but it was unfortunately too little too late for Werder.
