After the 6-0 win against San Diego Loyal, BVB head coach was not satisfied with the first half in particular. He also spoke about the players who suffered injuries, and the fans in the stadium.

Edin Terzic on the game:
“In the first half in particular, we lost possession countless times in the build-up, we made several technical errors. What we didn’t like at all was the reaction – that when we lost the balls, we didn’t shake it off. We stopped where we were and left our teammates alone. These are the things that we absolutely have to cut out. We already addressed that during the half-time break. We want to minimise the errors. But we have to stay active and brave and demand the ball. We did that better in the second half, even though we gave away a few balls and allowed the opposition too many chances of scoring.”

… pre-season:
“We didn’t like what we saw in the last two friendly matches in Germany either. We also had to defend an awful lot of counter-attacks in them. Looking at the positives, we have had to put in a lot of work when it comes to fitness during the games. That was good, but of course we would have liked to have stayed much calmer, been much more dominant. We are trying to work really hard over here. The friendly was designed so that most players got 45 minutes of game time. We are planning it like a training session in terms of the load, without paying too much attention to the results.”

… Duranville and Schlotterbeck, who came off injured:
“We still have to wait for the diagnoses. Julien felt a pull in the back of his thigh. We didn’t want to take any chances. With Nico Schlotterbeck, I saw that he got caught up with their attacker in a duel and stayed down. We will have to wait and see on that.”

… Marcel Sabitzer:
“Marcel completed the full training session with us today and then did a few extra runs. He will be put through his paces again tomorrow. We want to give him time to adapt. But the plan is definitely that he will play against Manchester United on Sunday.”

… the friendly matches:
“When the games are so close together, the time between them is crucial and we will start the recovery process right now. Tomorrow morning, we will have a long session for the lads who didn’t play, and a recovery session for the guys who played a lot. Then we will prepare for the game. We are used to travelling a lot and playing every three or four days. We want to prepare ourselves for that right now. We will slightly increase the number of minutes each player plays in the next two games. So we want to slowly work towards the normal rhythm of games in the season, and the next friendlies are extremely important for that.”

… the trip to the USA:
“We were also over in Asia in the winter. You can see how much joy you can trigger abroad and how much support we get, especially here in this region. You could see it – not just inside the stadium. We have a huge number of fans and fan clubs. We have our own football academy here, where a lot of youth players play in the Black and Yellow of BVB. The tour is the opportunity to give something back. The conditions are great, the weather is good. Of course, our bodies will need some time to adapt. But we are happy about the friendly matches. We are happy that we have perfect conditions for training. We are happy to accept the stress of travel in exchange for that.”

… the scenes inside the stadium:
“It was really great. It was loud for the full 90 minutes. The San Diego fans in particular were really fired up. But when you looked up, you felt that the stands were all full of fans in Black and Yellow. This shows just how far our fanbase reaches. No matter where we are, there will be plenty of our fans there.”
