On Sunday, 21st January (15:30 CET), SV Werder Bremen will kick off the second half of their Bundesliga campaign when they travel to Munich for a clash with FC Bayern. Werder head coach Ole Werner explained in Friday’s pre-match press conference what his players will need to do if they want to bring some points back to Bremen.
Gouweleeuw is the player with the second-most top-tier games for FCA with 209 (five goals and seven assists), behind only Daniel Baier (274). The Dutchman has featured 14 times this season, 13 of which were in the starting eleven. The 1.88-metre-tall defender has become a regular presence in the back four under head coach Jess Thorup.

Pre-Match-Interview with Lois Openda: Top match. Future. Role models.
The scenario: The first matchday of 2023/24 and the Borussia Dortmund U23s’ third season in succession in the 3. Liga. BVB had enjoyed a good pre-season and prepared themselves for the coming campaign at a training camp in Austria. Coach Jan Zimmermann’s charges picked up some positive results in their friendly fixtures, with the Black & Yellows running out 2-0 winners over Dutch top-flight outfit Go Ahead Eagles in their final acid test a week before the competitive restart. The promoted club from Münster comfortably sealed the Regionalliga West title last season and returned to the third-highest tier of German football following a three-year absence. SC Preußen also performed well in pre-season and beat the likes of second-tier Eintracht Braunschweig by a 3-1 scoreline. The final friendly before the start of the season against Kickers Offenbach (Regionalliga) ended in a 4-1 triumph for the men from Münster.
“We have to show that we’re also capable of picking up points away from home against a strong opponent,” Thorup explained, hoping to improve on FCA’s current record away from the WWK ARENA. His mantra is to “perform on the road the way we do at home!” While Gladbach’s most recent fixture saw them come out on top in a 3-1 win over VfB Stuttgart and increase their unbeaten streak at BORUSSIA-PARK to eight, FCA fell to defeat against top-of-the-table Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
With the first half of the season complete, there are currently two points and two spots between the sides in the Bundesliga table, with FC Augsburg occupying twelfth position with 18 points on the board. On the back of a strong defensive performance against Leverkusen, Thorup is now looking for his team to make the most of their chances on the ball: “We can’t just sit back for 90 minutes and look to play on the break, we have to work on our own performance in possession.”
If you ask sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, however, not one finger should be pointed at new coach Thomas Tuchel.
The documentary examines a week in the life of TSG Hoffenheim’s first-team as they prepare to face VfL Bochum (a game they won 3-1). Head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo allowed the cameras to observe his every move at work: he was mic’d up on the training pitch, during the video analysis session with the entire team and individually with Germany international Anton Stach. The camera was on for all his dressing room speeches, before, during and after the match. Captain Oliver Baumann was accompanied during physiotherapy and midfielder Grischa Prömel was filmed practising yoga. World Cup finalist Andrej Kramarić also provides insights into his relationship with the club’s fans.
