Stüker joined BVB in 1981 as a young commercial clerk. She experienced and accompanied the journey of a club “with a few thousand season ticket holders and a few thousand members” to the top of European football. “I had many lovely moments at BVB. When I received my contract of employment, the title wins, first and foremost the cup in 1989 and the league in 1995. But when I am asked about my proudest moment, I would say the millions donated to Yad Vashem.”
When asked about the prospect of a much needed new striker, Brazzo was diplomatic in his response:
Matthias Ginter will not be present as he’s been struggling with an Achilles tendon injury last time out and had to be substituted after 83 minutes in the 3-1 defeat against VfB Stuttgart. “He’s been dealing with pain for quite a few weeks,” Christian Streich said on Ginter. “We’ve decided to treat his injury conservatively. He’s getting treatment on a daily basis and we need to see how things develop. We can’t make any predictions.”

A very special weekend is on the horizon for the Green-Whites. As part of the celebrations for SV Werder Bremen’s 125-year anniversary, a number of club legends will be in the building for the home fixture against 1. FC Heidenheim at the wohninvest WESERSTADION on Saturday, 10th February (15:30 CET). However, according to Ole Werner and Clemens Fritz, the Bundesliga clash on matchday 21 will be the focal point of the day for the team. “When there’s an occasion to celebrate, it’s vital that we can still put in a strong performance,” emphasised Werder’s head of professional football in the pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon.
.In their last three home matches, FCA have played against three of the Bundesliga’s best sides. Despite putting in three good performances, Augsburg drew 1-1 against Borussia Dortmund and fell to defeats against Leverkusen (1-0) and Bayern (3-2), which is why head coach Jess Thorup wants to see his side pick up some points in their next match. “We’ve got to up our game again and need to play well for the full 90,” said the 53-year-old. The Dane went on to state that FCA’s fans “help us out every game” and called for their support once again this weekend.
Last weekend, FCA were rewarded with a late equaliser after a much-improved second-half performance in their clash against VfL Bochum. In light of that match, Thorup expressed his desire to see Augsburg shut the opposition attack down: “We want to show that we can keep a clean sheet,” explained Thorup, who noted that Leipzig have “a lot of quality up front.” RBL got back to winning ways against Union Berlin last week after falling to three successive defeats to start off the year.
“City is the toughest draw that we could’ve gotten. I think City think the same about us. It would have been a nice final. Now we’re playing in the quarterfinal. FC Bayern will be ready,” Goretzka told Sport Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
