The Three-Game Week at Castroper Straße is in full swing, and an absolute highlight is just around the corner: On Wednesday evening, VfL Bochum 1848 welcome SC Freiburg for the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal. In the run-up to the team from South Germany, head coach Thomas Reis and director of football Sebastian Schindzielorz answered the journalists’ questions at the press conference.

Great cup evening, bitter ending. VfL Bochum 1848 and SC Freiburg had a great battle in the quarterfinals of the DFB-Pokal. Both teams had their chances, and the Blue and Whites were close to advancing. But in the last second, Freiburg’s Sallai let the blue-white cup dreams burst after a mistake by Leitsch.

Since last week there’s war in Ukraine and therefore in the middle of Europe. Numerous people are fleeing, others have already fallen victim to the war. Families are separated and there is unimaginable suffering. VfL Bochum 1848 is shocked by the events and takes a clear stand on this issue. It condemns the Russian invasion and expresses its solidarity with Ukraine and its people. Bochum and Ukraine have a special connection. VfL has been twinned with Donetsk for 35 years.

Back to Bundesliga buisness, the cup is history. Now it’s all about staying in the league. This Saturday offers the next chance to score important points, when VfL welcome the “Shamrock“. Let’s LOOK AHEAD to Greuther Fürth.

Already yesterday it was announced through the channels of VfL Bochum 1848 that there will be several actions to support the people of Ukraine. The call for donations in kind for the “Alliance Bochum-Donetsk” has started successfully. Today follows our donation campaign via betterplace.org. The VfL will participate in the campaign with € 50,000.
