Thomas Reis (head coach VfL Bochum 1848): “Losing always hurt. All the more bitter when they come about like they did today. The first half was even, Leipzig had the only scoring chance on either side. In the second half, we were very active and very close to taking the lead. Then the ball went over the goal twice and we were a bit unlucky. When we conceded the goal, you could see Leipzig’s quality. They scored a very, very good goal from a good counterattack. We have to accept that. Nevertheless, I’m proud of my team that we once again came through against such a top team. I continue to see our development. If we continue like this, we will definitely get the points we need to stay in the division.

Domenico Tedesco (head coach RB Leipzig): Of course we are very happy about the three points. You saw why only a few teams win in Bochum. VfL demanded a lot from us and is difficult to play against. Nevertheless, we defended very well and were really good in the game. We took the exchange of blows and won many important duels. In the end, the victory was a bit fortunate because Bochum was better in the second half.

Anthony Losilla: We stood up to a strong opponent for a long time. We also had the better chances. But football’s like that. If you don’t take your chances, you always run the risk of conceding a goal. Leipzig has high quality, they don’t need many opportunities. But we can take a lot of positives, it was a good performance from us.

Gerrit Holtmann: We knew what kind of quality was coming at us today. Leipzig has played very nice football in recent weeks. Against such a team, you can quickly concede three or four goals. But we kept the game very open today. We could have taken the lead before the 0-1. In the end, it’s just bitter when you lose to a team that hardly had any scoring chances.

Cristian Gamboa: It was a difficult game for us. We played against a team that has very high quality individually. Nevertheless, we did well. We brought the belief to the pitch that we could win. The fact that we didn’t score a goal is bitter, of course. Leipzig then used their only opportunity well. That’s just the Bundesliga.
