VfL Bochum 1848’s Talentwerk academy is continuing its cooperation with the Faculty of Sports Science at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB). For at least two more years, until 2024, the blue and white junior department will receive support in the non-sporting area. Sports psychologist Annika Hof, for example, will be joined by Asja Kiel, a new colleague from RUB. Prof. Dr. Michael Kellmann, head of the sports psychology department, will continue to act in an advisory capacity.

VfL Bochum 1848 has extended the contract of Ilja Kaenzig, commercial director and management spokesman. Sebastian Schindzielorz, VfL’s Director of Sport, on the other hand, will not extend his contract. The 43-year-old has informed the club’s management of this decision. A contract extension is being sought for head coach Thomas Reis.

In youth football, things are going from strength to strength. No sooner is one season over than preparations are underway for the next. The U16s of VfL Bochum 1848 were runners-up in the B-Junior Westfalenliga. At the end of the season, Simon Schuchert’s boys put together a brilliant run of five wins in a row, including a 6-0 victory over FC Schalke 04. “Through concentrated performances, we started a race to catch up. In the end, we were rewarded for this with second place,” summed up the coach.

It took a long time, but finally the time had come again: the first VfLPARTNER-GOLFTURNIER since 2019 took place on Tuesday. It was a special one, not only because of the corona-related interruption during the past two and a half years. The seventh edition of this golf event in total celebrated the premiere as VfLCHARITY-GOLFTURNIER. 

Less than three weeks have passed since the end of the season for the former U19 of VfL Bochum 1848, and already the team is looking ahead. In the first preparatory match for the new season, the newly formed U19 won a commanding 6-0 against VfB Waltrop.
