Gabby Agbonlahor thinks Leicester City midfielder James Maddison will want to “go bigger than Spurs” amid claims he could move to Newcastle United.

Despite the Foxes poor form this season which saw them get relegated to the Championship, Maddison has still managed to impress in the Premier League with ten goals and nine assists in 30 league appearances.

And now there has been numerous rumours linking him with a move away from the King Power Stadium with Leicester looking to hold out for around £40m for his services this summer.

but former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor thinks he should snub Spurs interest for the Magpies.

Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT: “He would want to go bigger than Spurs. If I am James Maddison, then I am not going to Spurs. That ship has sailed. They finished eighth, with no European football.

“James Maddison will look at Newcastle. Perfect fit for him. You can see him in that Newcastle side. Playing Champions League football. Better project than what’s happening at Spurs. They are going in a better direction.

“If I am James Maddison, then I am not choosing Spurs, even though he would suit them. They are crying out for a number ten.”

Another talkSPORT pundit, Andy Townsend, has urged to allow Harry Kane to move on this summer with his future still up in the air.

The England captain has had another brilliant goalscoring campaign with the 29-year-old bagging 30 goals in 38 Premier League matches, despite the north London club finishing eighth in the table.

Widespread reports indicate that Man Utd and Real Madrid will fight it out for his signature this summer and Townsend reckons they should let him go and use the money to rebuild “wisely”.

Revealing the fifth point in his five-point plan for Tottenham, Townsend told talkSPORT: “The final one, I would let Harry Kane go.

“I would take the money for Harry Kane, take that, use it – they’ve got to use it better than they’ve you’ve used in the past. Tottenham have literally squandered many, many millions on players that have had eyebrows raised from day one, they’ve got to spend their money wisely.
