VfB will contest the 2024 Supercup on 17 August away to Bayer Leverkusen at 20:30 CEST, per a decision taken by the DFL Executive Committee at a meeting on Thursday.
CEO Alexander Wehrle: “From our point of view, the DFL Executive Committee’s decision not to hold the Supercup in one of the most modern stadiums in Germany, with a capacity of 60,000 – which is double that of other stadiums – and to therefore make this competition accessible to more football fans, is incomprehensible. We are very disappointed with the decision. Stuttgart and VfB would have deserved such an honour. Nevertheless, I can assure Bayer Leverkusen and the DFL that VfB Stuttgart will do everything in our power to play a top-class and fair game, which, as athletes, we naturally want to win.”
