Next season’s recruitment continues with Jamie Leweling joining the club on a permanent basis. The 23-year-old winger joined VfB on loan at the start of the season from 1. FC Union Berlin, and has now signed a contract that will keep him in Cannstatt until 30 June 2028.
Leweling featured in all 38 competitive matches in the 2023/24 campaign, showing his speed down the right side and always looking to create goalscoring opportunities. He’s scored four goals and set up another four in the Bundesliga.
Jamie Lewewling: “I feel really at home with VfB. The players, coaching staff and fans have all made me feel really welcome and so I’m glad that my future is now here. It was a bit of a tough start for me early in the season but as the year went on, I improved and I’m on the right track now. The season as a whole was just incredible.”
VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth: “Jamie featured in every Bundesliga match, and that statistic alone shows just how important he is to the team. His commitment and willingness to work for the team make him a very valuable player for us. We also think that he has plenty of potential to develop further, and that’s why we decided to tie Jamie down to VfB on a long-term deal.”
