Tottenham have made Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou their new first choice to succeed Antonio Conte at the end of the season, according to reports.

Spurs have endured a difficult campaign with boss Conte departing in March, before following a worldwide ban for allegations of false accounting during his time at Juventus.

The club’s trophy drought has also extended into a 15th consecutive season and any hope of another top-four finish has long gone with unrest amongst the fanbase growing amid a perceived lack of direction or transparency from the board.

Ryan Mason is the third head coach this season, after Cristian Stellini was sacked following a disastrous four-game spell, and with the managerial search set to extend into a third month next week, Spurs fans’ have repeatedly chanted for Daniel Levy to leave the club in recent fixtures.

And the mood of the supporters will hardly have improved this week following the news .

The Independent claim that Tottenham are ‘strongly considering’ Celtic boss Postecoglou with the newspaper insisting he is now their ‘new first choice for manager’.

The report adds:

‘While the feeling in the game had been that the Slot negotiations were close to the finish line, some figures with knowledge of the situation insist Spurs were still conducting discussions about a top list of targets. One of those is Postecoglou, who is being strongly considered, along with Sporting’s Ruben Amorim.

‘Daniel Levy would greatly value Luis Enrique but that is seen as more difficult to pull off given the Spanish coach’s list of demands when Chelsea interviewed him.’

That comes after Football Transfers insisted that former Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter were two of their main targets.

However, Rodgers is ‘not thought to be a favourite’ of Levy’s despite the rest of the board ‘otherwise all for the 50-year-old’.

And now journalist Dean Jones has claimed that both Rodgers and Potter are both considered “non-starters” and it “would take a lot of negotiating and persuading” to get either manager on board.

Jones told The Boot Room: “I know Spurs fans that wonder about the chances of Brendan Rodgers or Graham Potter coming in but up to this point, I have been told that has been a non-starter.
