Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, though his ‘love’ for the Premier League has ‘tipped the scales’ in the favour of Man Utd, according to a report.

Osimhen is one of the most sought-after strikers in world football having scored 23 times to help fire Napoli to their first Serie A title since 1990.

The Nigerian international cost the Naples outfit a whopping £67million in 2020 when he joined from Lille.

He has been well worth the money having established himself as a hero at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Many clubs are on the lookout for a new No. 9 and Osimhen is top of quite a few shopping lists ahead of the summer transfer window.

Bayern Munich, Man Utd and Chelsea are probably the most notable clubs in dire need of a striker and have all been linked with Osimhen.

All three are also believed to be interested in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani and Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

Osimhen is expected to cost at least £100million, which would make him the most expensive striker of all time, narrowly beating Romelu Lukaku’s £97.5m move to Chelsea in 2021. This is the case unless you count Antoine Griezmann and Joao Felix as strikers.

Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag is expected to have around £100m to play with in the summer, though a lot of the club’s plans are up in the air given the ownership situation.

What is clear is that the Red Devils need to sell a number of first-team stars. Club captain Harry Maguire is one of those who could be sold, while the likes of Eric Bailly and Alex Telles are surplus to requirements.

There is a fresh report from Foot Mercato which states Man Utd could have the edge in the race to sign Osimhen.

It is said that PSG have identified the 24-year-old as their top ‘priority’ in attack and the club’s director of football Luis Campos apparently has a good relationship with the player’s agent.

Unfortunately for them, he ‘loves the Premier League’ which is ideal as Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis’ €150m (£130m) asking price can probably only be met by an English club.

Osimhen is not the only Napoli player the Red Devils are interested in signing. Multiple reports say they want to bring in central defender Kim Min-jae.
