Man Utd have made progress on summer transfers despite their takeover process lingering on with Harry Kane ready to move to Old Trafford, according to reports.

The Red Devils are currently in the middle of a potential takeover with both Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe making offers for the Premier League club.

, Man Utd supporters have become worried that the lengthy process could see them miss out on their top summer transfer targets.

There main transfer target remains a striker with The Athletic revealing in April that Tottenham striker Kane has become their priority .

And now The Sun claims that Kane ‘only wants’ a transfer to Man Utd in the summer or he will ‘run down his deal’ with just a year remaining on his current contract.

The England captain has ‘no intention of going abroad’ as he closes in on Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record with Kane now 48 goals away from surpassing the former Newcastle United striker’s 260 Premier League goals.

There has been reported interest from Bayern Munich , while Man Utd are the ‘only viable English option this summer’.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would much prefer to sell Kane to a foreign club over a Premier League rival and Man Utd now ‘need to convince’ the Spurs chief to sell.

The Sun reckon Kane running down his contract is ‘more probable’ than him getting his move to Man Utd and CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs insists a move for the England international ‘will be tricky’.

Jacobs has also allayed fears that Man Utd can’t do any business while the takeover process rumbles on with negotiations taking place for various targets.

The journalist told Caught Offside: “The Manchester United sale process lingers on and threatens to overshadow the early part of the window. Erik ten Hag wants to move fast, but it’s still unclear come June 14 when the window opens whose money the club will be spending.

“The recruitment team have been working as usual, so progress (from a negotiation perspective) has been made. Plus, qualifying for Champions League football ensures a healthier budget regardless of who is in charge. But there’s no doubt Manchester United will have to be a little more cautious in the market and are still ultimately bound by FFP.

“If Manchester United want Harry Kane, or a player like Dusan Vlhaovic, that’s going to take up a big chunk of their planned budget. Kane will be tricky. As previously reported, Daniel Levy is going to be stubborn.

“The situation is different with Mason Mount, though. Chelsea will sell now if he doesn’t agree a new deal because the fee will prove important. Manchester United are advancing things. Liverpool and Arsenal remain interested.

“Manchester United’s starting valuation is around £15m lower than Chelsea want, should Mount not opt to stay. It’s also important to note, Mauricio Pochettino wants to keep Mount, but it remains to be seen whether he can influence things.”
