Man Utd defender Victor Lindelof is reportedly set to ‘pack his bags a year in advance’ as he is one player Erik ten Hag will let go this summer.

He is one player who has been negatively impacted by Ten Hag’s arrival. The ex-Ajax has preferred to use Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane at centre-back this season when both players have been fit.

Lindelof has previously been a regular for Man Utd alongside Harry Maguire but the Sweden international has only started five times in the Premier League in 2022/23.

Speaking last month,

“Of course like every player, you want to play every game and obviously I haven’t done that this season,” Lindelof said. “But like I always say when I come here [international duty], it’s a pleasure to be here and I’m always happy to represent my country.

“I’m really looking forward to the games that we have and I spoke to Janne [Sweden’s manager] before to say I was really looking forward to coming here and to perform, and to be on the pitch with the guys again.

“Like I said, I want to play, that’s why I play football, I want to play games, but I haven’t thought about that [transfer away], right now I’m just focusing on the national team and then of course, the rest of the season with the club. Then in the summer we’ll re-evaluate and see what is best.”

It is being heavily reported that Ten Hag will oversee a squad overhaul this summer

Inter Live (via Sport Witness) are reporting Lindelof ‘could pack his bags a year in advance’ of his contract expiry in 2024.

He and Anthony Martial are considered to be ‘outgoings’ at Man Utd and Inter Milan are ‘looking at’ both players.

The report claims Martial is valued at €20m, while United want around €15m for Lindelof. Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio is ‘greatly intrigued’ by the prospect of signing the defender.

A move for Martial is more difficult as his €15m a year salary is ‘far too much for the Italians’. It is also pointed out that ‘considering his contract expires in 2024, a loan would be off the table unless his one-year extension is triggered’.

“I don’t think in this moment he is game fit enough to have a start,” Ten Hag said pre-match.

“Obviously, when you see Anthony Martial’s record over the last years, you have to be really careful to plan it. So I don’t want to take that risk because I know when he is on the pitch he has a great impact on our performance.”
