Didi Hamann doubts Jurgen Klopp can turn things around at Liverpool and has urged his compatriot to resign from his role in the summer.

Their 0-0 draw against Chelsea on Tuesday night was no use to either side as the Reds once again failed to gain ground on the top four.

Since , which sparked debate about Liverpool making the top four, Klopp’s side have lost to Bournemouth, Manchester City and Real Madrid and drawn with Chelsea.

Most Liverpool fans are still behind Klopp and want to see the German lead the club into next season but there are doubts as to how much money there will be to spend.

And Hamann reckons Klopp should hand in resignation at the end of the campaign as he risks tainting the “wonderful marraige” he’s had at Anfield.

“I’m afraid that if Klopp decides to stay on, it won’t be any better next year because the owners at Liverpool never spend the money like other clubs,” Hamann told Sky Germany’s Sky 90 talk show.

“He wouldn’t have deserved that and this wonderful marriage between Liverpool and Klopp wouldn’t have deserved that.

“That’s why the best thing for both sides would be to make a cut in the summer. Listening to Klopp, he wants to do it, he thinks he can do it – but I have big doubts.”

with Klopp putting out a much-changed side against the Blues.

And Jamie Carragher thinks Klopp needs to adapt his current tactics to the squad at his disposal because his current Liverpool side can’t “play the same way” anymore.

Carragher said on Sky Sports: “They still play the same way – the same idea’s there.

“But they can’t do it. So when you look at the Manchester City game, Liverpool played that game like it was the Liverpool of three or four years ago.

“They go man-to-man all over the pitch and they be brave, they play high. But they’re not that Liverpool. It just fascinates me as a manager, what do you do? Do you always stick to your idea and your principles or do you adapt them with how your players are?

“And the big thing is how easy it is for the opposition to get chances – that’s the worry for me and then as I said Jurgen Klopp’s not taking a backwards step. At times this season, he has tried to do different things, he’s gone 4-4-2, at times they’ve dropped of slightly but he’s not going to change completely. He does what he does.”
